Hardwood flooring that suffers deep gouges or holes on account of heavy, hard things being dropped on the surface are really simpler to fix than plenty of other kinds of surfaces. This is as of the supply of wood putty, which is essentially sawdust with adhesive. It can fill any sort of cut in the wood's surface, and then it can be finished and sanded as regular wood.

Like wood, the putty should be sealed with gloss to stop moisture penetration and other problems correcting cracks and nail holes in a hardwood floor.

 * Step 1: Stop the crack by growing any bigger by driving angled nails into the wood from the side to hold the two sides of the crack together.

 * Step 2: Tape the floor area round the crack and nail holes with painter's tape. This tape isn't just softly adhesive, so it will not spoil the finish on the floor. The tape will also protect the floor from the wood filler.

* Step 3: Use the putty cutter to fill the crack and nail holes with wood filler, ensuring to press it into the crack. Once filled, use the putty cutter to level out the wood putty with the floor.

*Step 4: Blow out the dust from the hole.

*Step 5: Add a second layer of polyurethane gloss over the area in the same demeanor as the first, keeping the layer thin and freed from bubbles

*Step 6: Buff the outside of the polyurethane gently with sandpaper, enough to reduce it, taking off the shine

*Step 7: Remove the tape. You may then polish or stain the area if you still have to match the color.
